VULCAN.In the forge of Hephaestus
On an adventurous excursion to the island of Vulcano, you’ll pass through eucalyptus forests, with views of the Gran Cratere, to the Grotte dei Rossi, once ancient burials carved into the rock. Along the journey, the story of the myth of the god Hephaestus, maker of the weapons of gods and heroes, can inspire your creativity: an artisan workshop on the island, specialized in ceramics and lava stone jewelry, will in fact be the forge where you can give shape to your personal artifact.
LIPARI. The home of the master of the winds
The magic of the theater evokes the myth of Aeolus, master of the winds, on the island where it was set. At the Castle of Lipari, as a prologue to the visit to the Norman Cloister and the Aeolian Archaeological Museum, which boasts remarkable Greek theatrical finds, an interpretation of the Canto X of the Odyssey will be staged: a moment to relive Homer's passage in which Aeolus gives Ulysses the wineskin of the winds, in the evocative stage of the castle's amphitheater, overlooking the sea.
SALINA. The nectar of the gods
Even if an interpretation of the writings of Diodorus Siculus dated its presence in the Aeolian Islands as early as the first century BC, recent studies has claimed that the so-called 'nectar of the gods' arrived in the island chain only in the sixteenth century, thanks to the Venetians fleeing from Crete: between false myths and oenological truths, the experience in Salina is dedicated to Malvasia delle Lipari DOC and IGP Salina, with a visit to the Wine Museum and a tasting moment at the green terraces overlooking the sea of the Colosi Winery.
STROMBOLI. The fire of passion
Legend says that, on a full moon night, Iddu fell in love with the Muntagna, enchanted by its fire rising among the stars. An impossible love story, the one between Stromboli and Etna, separated forever by the waters: this is the story that introduces the boat crossing to the Sciara di Fuoco, the gigantic furrow along which lava flows flow from the crater of Stromboli to the sea. A spectacle to be admired in the last lights of the sunset, lulled by the waves.
