MegaMuseo – Aosta Megalithic Area
The MegaMuseo in Aosta covers an area of about one hectare in the megalithic area of Saint-Martin-de-Corléans and traces an uninterrupted historical evolution, from the Neolithic to the Middle Ages, up to the Contemporary era. Among sacred ploughings from 4,000 B.C., ritual wells, anthropomorphic stelae, and megalithic tombs, the path tells the story of the millennial desire for eternity, with technological and digital solutions.
The Dolmen
In the heart of the megalithic area is the ceremonial center whereanthropomorphicstelaewereerected, monumentscelebratingancestors, heroes, or deities. Subsequently, the site wasused for funerarypurposes, with the erection of the majesticburial from 2500 B.C. Itis an imposingstructure with a triangular plan, characterized by large stone blocksthatcouldsymbolize power and the divine connection with higherforces.
