THE EARTH. At the roots of a civilization
In the Su Nuraxi archaeological area of Barumini, a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the thousand-year-old stones of the majestic multi-tower structures and the village that surrounds it narrate us the ancestral roots of Sardinia. You’ll discover one of the most extraordinary symbols of the Nuragic civilization, a story of strength, roots and deep connection with the land that saw the birth of this ancient culture.
THE FIRE. The flame of the forges
In the territory of Iglesias, the memory of the mining tradition is still burning: Porto Flavia is an admirable industrial archaeological site, suspended between sky and sea, an engineering work excavated in the heart of the mountain and overlooking the sea, that allowed the transportation of the extracted materials in the mining district of Iglesiente. An area where fire once flared up in the forges, an element that returns as the protagonist in a pyrotechnic show at sunset, between lights and shadows.
THE AIR. The breath of the island
An off-road route will lead you to Sa Rutta, where there is an eco-tourism project immersed in the wild nature of Villaputzu. While the wind carries with it the scent of the Mediterranean scrub, you’ll take part in a yoga class at high altitude, listening to the breath of Sardinia. Afterwards, a master craftsman will involve you in a workshop for the assemblage of launeddas, an ancient wind instrument that, with its vibrant sound, expresses the ancestral bond between man and nature.
WATER. Where the sea is more blue
From the port of Villasimius starts a journey through the knowledge of the sea and its natural beauty: after an intimate and authentic encounter with a local fisherman, you’ll set sail in the company of a marine biologist to explore the coast: among hidden coves, white sandy beaches and the Mediterranean vegetation of the Isola dei Cavoli and the Island of Serpentara. A journey to discover the marine ecosystem that populates these turquoise waters.
THE ETHER. The fifth and celestial element
As the sun goes down and darkness advances, you’ll arrive at the ancient Usai Quarry: under a mantle of stars, the encounter with the mysterious Ether takes place, the mystical fifth element that in ancient Greek cosmology constituted the matter of the spheres and celestial bodies: an engaging astronomical observation guided by an expert will transport you into an experience of pure contemplation, between the scent of myrtle and wild nature, constellations, planets and ancient myths.
