THE PARENTESI
The ghost town
A village carved in stone stands out between the Lucanian Apennines and the Ionian Sea, overlooking the sand-colored badlands: it is the city of Craco, a historic center of medieval origin that later the abandonment of the population, due to geological events, earned the nickname of "ghost town". A place suspended between memory and decadence, included among the historical assets to be protected by the US association World Monuments Fund.
Craco's viva voce
Thanks to the safety of the path dedicated to visitors, as part of the enhancement of the historic center of 2012, guests will be guided in the heart of Craco, to the discovery of its medieval and modern testimonies and the stories that once animated its streets: through the memories and stories of its former inhabitants, the events of a place, once lived, unfortunately no longer habitable today are recalled.
All the taste of the territory
At the end of the guided tour, at sunset, the main square of the town will welcome a tasting by the Pro Loco of Craco, in which guests can enjoy a selection of typical products, for an authentic journey into local flavors.
Craco takes center stage
The Parentesi will end with a theatrical performance set up in a suggestive theater in the open. The performance will tell the story of life in Craco in the 70s, focusing on the difficult choice of the inhabitants to abandon their beloved city, with the ruins, exalted by an innovative lighting system, which will be the natural setting for this initiative never carried out before.
