THE PARENTESI
The setting
Monte Castello di Vibio is a village of medieval charm that, from the top of a hill, overlooks the lush landscape of the province of Perugia. You will explore the small town, walking its streets and discovering its historical events with a member of the Società del Teatro della Concordia: a journey into its long history, which began in Roman times and was marked by rivalry with the nearby town of Todi.
The Smallest Theatre in the World
The Teatro della Concordia, known as the “smallest theatre in the world,” is truly one of a kind: an authentic Italian-style theatre in the Goldonian tradition, so small that it has only 99 seats. Reopened in 1993 after extensive restoration, its rooms await you for a guided tour, where you can relive the story of this precious place of art and entertainment that began in the early 19th century.
From the book to stage
In 1904, after a journey through Umbria, Hermann Hesse wrote Francesco d’Assisi, a work in which biography, essay, and fable blend together, creating a modern reflection infused with Franciscan spirituality. Carlo Dalla Costa, an Umbrian actor and theatre trainer, brings it to the stage, giving body and voice to the German author’s prose in an intimate and engaging monologue.
